First Youth AIDS Walk a great starting point

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

Dear COL Friends,

As Mike said below, a big thanks again to all of our participants and volunteers that came out Saturday. We had a great time for a great cause!

Here are some pictures from the Walk:

We’ve had such a positive response from the community that we’re already making plans for next year’s event. So if you know any local churches that missed out this year but would be interested in participating next year, please leave a comment below.

Also, a big thank you to Johnny Jackson at the Henry Herald for once again writing up a positive article about our event yesterday. Check it out on the Henry Herald’s Website, it’s titled “Youth Walk supports Kenyan AIDS education program.”

Important Walk Update Pictures

Walk flier

The McDonough Youth AIDS Walk is THIS Saturday! And we have an important change. The Walk will now begin at Bethany Baptist Church at the corner of Hwy 81 (east of McDonough) and North Bethany Rd.  On-site registration will be in the parking lot across from the church at 8:30 am.

The new route will go up North Bethany Rd., make a left onto Rodgers, go down and make a right onto Airline Rd, and finish by making a left on McGarity Rd.  McDonough Presbyterian is about 1 ½ mile down on the right.  The total walk is about the same (just over 4 miles).  We will provide a water station in front of Wesley Way United Methodist Church.  Bring good shoes, a hat and remember the sunscreen!

Don’t forget, the youth will plays games, enjoy lunch, and celebrate with a the Christian band Everprayer during our time at MPC.  We will wrap just after 1:30pm and will provide bus transportation back to Bethany Baptist.

This is sure to be a great event for a great cause. Can’t wait to see you all there!

ChangeOneLife Youth AIDS Alive Walk: Planning Continues… Pictures

Dear COL Friends,

As the summer heats up, so do our plans for the ChangeOneLife Youth Alive AIDS Walk! The Walk is scheduled for September 25th and will start at Salem Baptist, follow Hwy 155 and end at McDonough Presbyterian Church. At MPC we will have plenty of games for the kids, a Christian rock/worship band, and food. We are asking each youth to raise just $25 to participate with proceeds going to COL’s AIDS Alive Projects in Kenya. Please leave a comment if you know of a local youth group that may be interested in joining us for this event.

Be sure to check back here often as work has begun on a COL Walk webpage, where you will be able to both register online and make donations for the walk through our COL blog. We are also in the design process for the COL Walk logo. Please feel free to leave any creative suggestions for the logo’s design in the comments section below.

This event will be a great opportunity to spread awareness and offer support for those living with AIDS in Africa. We look forward to sharing it with you.

Youth AIDS Alive Walk: The Planning Process Begins!

Sunday, May 9th, 2010

Dear COL Friends,

We started making plans for the Youth AIDS Alive Walk this fall.  ChangeOneLife had a meeting with youth ministers from McDonough Presbyterian Church and Salem Baptist Church last week.  ChangeOneLife is currently reaching out to other youth groups in the area as well.  The ultimate goal is a 5k walk with youth, starting at Salem Baptist Church and ending at McDonough Presbyterian Church, to raise awareness about AIDS in Africa.  The proceeds from the event will go toward ChangeOneLife’s AIDS Alive projects in Kenya.

Please see the video on our facebook page for more information.  If you are interested in attending or would like to help in the planning process please post a comment to this post.
