Blog Sagas from Kenya: Part V

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Dear COL Friends,

Blog Sagas from Kenya: Part V PicturesIn our final blog post from the “Blog Sagas from Kenya,” I will share with you Vanessa and Jo’s stories about the last stop on their trip:  the Ndiwa and Lawanda clinics in rural western Kenya.  Last year ChangeOneLife identified the Ndiwa and Lawanda clinics as priority projects and allocated funds toward their renovation.

Vanessa and Jo reported that the visit to the Lawanda and Ndiwa dispensaries was very positive.  Most noteworthy was the renovation of the Ndiwa clinic, which when visited last year by COL board members was in dire need of repair.  Since COL’s visit last year, however, the Ndiwa clinic has been transformed by the hope and hard work of the people in the village.  The clinic has been so well repaired in fact that it is now qualified to receive supplies from the government.  At both villages, where the clinics were located, Vanessa and Jo (with leaders in the village) presented bicycles donated by LINC (Love Integrates Nurture and Care) and COL to AIDS widows.  The occasions were both profoundly joyful and hopeful.

Thank you to all our COL friends for helping bring these “miracles of good health” to life.  Thank you also for following our blog sagas through the past few weeks.  Please stay tuned to learn more about future projects and fundraisers that will be coming up in the next few weeks.  And lastly a big thanks to Reverend Vanessa Sharp and Reverend Jo Dokes for all their help and hard work on the trip to Africa.
