McDonough Youth AIDS Walk
Thanks to one and all for a great McDonough Youth AIDS Walk Saturday, October 1 2011! Over 80 youth and adults from six area churches finished the 4.1 miles from Bethany Baptist Church to McDonough Presbyterian Church. The proceeds will go toward ChangeOneLIfe’s AIDS Alive Projects in Kenya.
The Walk started bright and early at Bethany Baptist. We had great weather; no one got hurt; people had a good time and met folks from other churches; and we made some money for a good cause. Plus, we doubled our participation this year. Special thanks to Antoinette Milton for once again bringing so many enthusiastic youth and adults to join the walk from Tabernacle of Praise Church.
Once we reached MPC, we had fun games, plenty of food and great praise music. Thank you Destiny Williams for leading us in some creative games ( I will never think about a trash can in the same way). Thank you to COL Board member Kevin Fisher for cooking and providing lunch. Also thank you to Rev. Greg Meadows and the members of the Wesley Way UMC youth praise band “By Grace” for the inspiring music leadership.
There are many others who worked hard to make the Walk successful. Thanks go out to Greg McGaha for getting the great looking t-shirts. Ruth Ann (COL Board) and her (like flyers and applications) that make for a successful event. Doris Griffin (my wife) for taking some great pictures that we will continue to share with you. Rev. Vanessa Sharp for changing her plane schedule to arrive in time to tell us more about the COL AIDS Alive projects in Kenya.
And a huge thank you to all of the youth group members that made the great looking banners and walked and played and sang and listened. Can’t wait to see you all next year!
Blessings, Mike Griffin, Pres/CEO ChangeOneLife, Inc. “helping the world’s poor people to know the miracle of good health”
